The following observations are of course my personal view and do not claim to be the “truth”!
Here comes Kim Song I (PRK):
Strengths:
- great physical fitness
- very good footwork
- good backhand defense
- good placement when pushing the ball (often placed with forehand into backhand of attacker)
- very good backhand serves
- nice loop defending when forced to
- good forehand smash against weak topspins
Weaknesses:
- can’t read spin well enough as you can see when she is returning ball to high when confronted with a “push-lift”-ball with long-pips by Ito Mima
- no shown forehand serves
- forehand defense too inconsistent and often too high
- forehand topspin too inconsistent
Suggestions:
- practice forehand serves
- practice twiddling
- practice backhand pushlifting with long pips or backhand topspin with pips-in
- practice defending with long pips on forehand
